The samples below are the detailed letters I provide with every project, shared with client details removed. Alongside each letter, your work also comes back with track changes, in-line comments, and specific recommendations woven right into the document, so you can see exactly what I suggested and why.
After finishing a project, I provide a clear work summary so clients understand exactly what was done and why. This example accompanied a full line edit of a 117-page doctoral dissertation.
What the review involved:
A close, line-by-line read of all pages to identify issues in clarity, grammar, and flow. Sentence-level editing throughout, including tightening wordy passages, fixing subject and verb agreement, correcting verb tense, repairing punctuation, and smoothing transitions between paragraphs.
Rewording and restructuring unclear or awkward sentences while preserving the writer's meaning and argument. Standardizing terminology and capitalization so key terms are used consistently throughout the document. Checking in-text citations and clarifying attribution where it was ambiguous.
A complete reformatting of the reference list to APA 7th edition, reviewed and corrected by hand entry by entry: author initials, ampersands, serial commas, italics, volume and issue numbers, DOIs, removal of publisher locations, and alphabetical ordering.
I'm always upfront about time and scope. When a project runs longer than my initial estimate, I say so and talk it through, so there are never surprises.

For beta reading, I deliver organized, category-by-category feedback so writers can see both what's working and where to focus revisions. In-text comments are bolded and marked in purple throughout the manuscript itself.
Overall story impression:
Overall, the story had a lot of well-written content. There was a lot of nice word play throughout the work. There were a few instances that pulled me away from the story…
Character believability:
The character did not feel entirely believable in this chapter. The perspective is presented as a strict, authoritarian-like character, but he did not have much inner thought that might have explained why he acted the way he did. Maybe he was trying to compensate to save himself regarding the issue?
Pacing:
I think the pacing was decent. The epilogue wasn't strictly necessary, because the story could have ended at the end of Chapter 5 just fine. However, the epilogue was cute!
My beta reading covers overall impression, plot holes, character believability, emotional engagement, pacing, voice and tone consistency, repetitive or AI-style phrasing, and alignment with reader expectations in the genre. Every note is honest, specific, and designed to help you revise with confidence.
