My AI Policy

AI is everywhere in writing right now, so you deserve to know exactly where I stand. This page is my complete policy, stated plainly.

My editing is purely human. Always.

I never use AI to edit, review, summarize, or process your work. Not for a first pass, not to "check" anything, not behind the scenes. Every comment, every suggestion, and every judgment call comes from me, a human being with a Doctorate of Education and more than a decade of editing experience. When you pay for my eyes, you get my eyes.

Your work never touches an AI system

I do not upload, paste, or feed your documents into any AI tool, and your work is never used to train any model. Your manuscript, your research, your ideas, and your voice stay between us. This applies to every service I offer, from beta reading to dissertation editing.

If you have used AI in your writing

No judgment. Many writers use AI somewhere in their process, and my job is to help you, not to police you. I ask two things:

• Tell me. Disclosure lets me edit accurately and flag anything that could raise concerns with a committee, a publisher, or an employer.
• Share the prompts you used. Knowing how the text was generated helps me spot its patterns and put your genuine voice back at the center.

Why this matters

AI-generated text tends toward the average: smooth, generic, and voiceless. But the whole point of your dissertation, your novel, or your personal statement is that it is yours. Institutions and publishers are also increasingly checking for undisclosed AI use, and honest disclosure protects you. My commitment is to keep the human in your writing, and to be one hundred percent transparent about my own process so you can be confident in yours.

Questions I am often asked

Do you use AI grammar checkers like advanced autocorrect? I use standard word-processing software with basic spellcheck, the same as any professional. The editing itself, meaning every decision about your words, is entirely human.

Will you tell me if my text sounds AI-generated? Yes, kindly and privately. It's part of protecting your work.

Can you help me revise AI-drafted text so it sounds like me? Absolutely. That's become a common and completely legitimate request, and disclosure makes it work well.
